Disabilities and inclusion

This teaching unit will enable students to develop a deep understanding of disability, with a focus on placing inclusion at the core of their reflections. Students will be guided to define disability and impairment, and to familiarize themselves with key concepts such as "disability situation," "vulnerability," and "loss of autonomy." Furthermore, they will explore the impact of disability on individuals' lives and examine different types of disability according to international classifications such as DSM-5 and ICD-11. Students will address definitions, etiologies, symptoms, necessary care, associated disorders, and comorbidities. Finally, this unit will raise students' awareness of the importance of inclusion in a society where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, can fully thrive, and it will enable them to actively contribute to the promotion of inclusion.
