 Interreligious dialogue in Southwestern Asia - i.e. the Middle East -, and especially between Muslims and Christians in Lebanon, has been marked by many jolts, tensions, and clashes, but also by dialogue and conviviality dynamics. Indeed, Lebanon has been defined as a model of Christian–Muslim relations, which seems surprising at first, given its history of sectarian violence. The course explores different aspects of interreligious dialogue in contemporary Lebanon, with emphasis on dialogue of life or natural dialogue practices, spiritual dialogue, and dialogue of common action. It provides an engaging environment in which one can explore approaches and possibilities of living together through a series of interactive and experiential activities. Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students should become more familiar with local interreligious dialogue concepts and praxis, and be able to articulate interdependent and cooperative relations between Christians and Muslims. Teaching/Learning Methodology: The course consists of assigned readings, presentations/lectures, discussions, interactive & experiential activities including group workshops, storytelling sessions, and documentary screening & debate. Course Requirements: - Attendance and active participation in all activities. - 4-5 p. reflective paper. Details will be provided in class. Course Grading: - Attendance and participation: 50% - MCQ+Reflective Paper in class: 50%
