Dental Photography Accuracy: A Comparative Assessment of a Professional camera and Smartphones.

Description :

Six dental casts (n=6/group) will be selected according to some criterions, vertical and horizontal lines will be marked on each tooth going from the right to the left second premolar. The casts will be scanned with Ceramill Map 600 desktop scanner (Amann Gerrbach, Koblach, Austria) as a control group, and a frontal view will be used as a reference. The same cast will be photographed 1 time with DSLR camera and 5 times with 6 different smartphones according to 5 different distances in a frontal view. The environment, the positioning and the calibration will be standardized for all groups. Calibrated linear measurements will be made on each photograph on the vertical and horizontal line drawn on each tooth from the right to the left second premolar. The linear measurements will be compared between the different groups in order to evaluate the accuracy of the different smartphone cameras at different distances.
