Assessment of cortical and medullar retro-molar donor site bone volumes in different vertical facial growth patterns.
Description :
The retromolar area is considered one of the intra-oral donor sites performed under local anesthesia with reduced postoperative complications. The chin bone harvesting hasn’t been considered as a favorable site by the patient due the increased morbidity compared to other intra-oral sites. The amount of bone present at the ramus area varies between patients. This variation of the available bone quantity might be related to the vertical growth of the mandible. Several studies were conducted to analyse the amount of bone at the ramus region whether by presurgical cone beam computed tomography calculations or surgically. The aim of the present is to quantify the cortico-cancellous bone components in terms of volume, percentage and surface area.
