Dr. Youakim Saliba is an academic and researcher in the field of health sciences. He is currently engaged as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Saint Joseph University of Beirut, where he has been serving since 2012. Dr. Saliba also holds an academic editor position at the journal Cardiovascular Therapeutics since 2022. Dr. Saliba's educational background is extensive. He earned his PhD in 2012 from Sorbonne Université, specializing in Physiology and Pathophysiology with a thesis on the identification of STIM1 partners in normal and hypertrophied hearts. He completed his Master's in Research in Biology - Health, specializing in Physiology, from USJ in 2008, and prior to that, a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Lebanese University in 2007. His research focuses on cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology, contributing significantly to the understanding of cardiac and renal fibrosis mechanisms. Dr. Saliba is a prolific author, having published numerous articles in high-impact journals, and actively participates in international scientific conferences, presenting his research findings. He also serves as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals such as Cells, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Journal of Clinical medicine, and Biomolecules. In addition to his research and teaching duties, Dr. Saliba is deeply involved in supervising doctoral and master's students in physiological and pathophysiological sciences. He is recognized for his pedagogical skills, having also undergone training in medical pedagogy. Dr. Saliba has been honored with several international awards for his scientific contributions, including the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) Award and multiple awards from the Federation of the European Physiological Societies. His work and dedication to science are well-acknowledged in the academic community, underscoring his role as a key contributor to the field of medical sciences.
