Sawsan Bou Khaled is a stage artist born in Lebanon in 1975. She studied Performing Arts at the Institute of Fine Arts, Lebanese University, where her projects earned her several awards commendations. In Issam Bou Khaleds Archipel, the actress also designed the costumes, an integral part of the set design, which transform throughout the performance. This was her first experience working with set designer Hussein Baydoun. In 2000, she moved to France to pursue theoretical studies in Performing Arts and has since been living between Paris and Beirut. It was during this time that she delved into the works of Büchner, Nietzsche, Artaud, Foucault, Deleuze, Genet, and Koltès... Writers and philosophers who haunt her universe and shape her ideas. In Paris, she worked on translating texts, notably Genet's Four Hours at Chatilla for her solo clown performance Danser sur les morts (Dancing on the Dead), directed by Catherine Boskowitz. In 2006, she created her first show, Cryptobiose, at the Tournesol theater in Beirut.
