Marleine Brax is a researcher at the Conseil National de la Recherche Scientifique. She is Director of the Centre National de Géophysique, a government research institution. Marlène Brax holds a civil engineering degree a DEA in Structures and Soil Mechanics from ESIB (USJ) and a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Grenoble (France). With publications in peer-reviewed journals, her research focuses on studies linking the seismology and the earthquake engineering. At a national level, Marleine Brax is - member of the National Committee for the Coordination of Disaster and Crisis Operations at the Serail. - member of the committee responsible for developping the seismic regulations at the Lebanese Standards Institute (LIBNOR) - member of the scientific committee at the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut. At an international level, Marleine Brax is - member of the executive council of CSEM (Centre Sismologie Euro-Méditerranéen) in Paris, - Lebanons National Contact at the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the CTBTO (Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization) in Vienna, - Lebanon's National Contact in the Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Tsunami Warning System for the North-East Atlantic, the Mediterranean and Connected Seas (NEAMTWS) at Unesco, - Lebanon's permanent correspondent to the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement.
