Hoda Samra Souaiby is the Senior Interpreter translator in UNRWA Lebanon since January 2024. Prior to that she was Senior Media and Communications Advisor in UNRWA from November 2016 to December 2023 and she was Public Information Officer in UNRWA since 1997. She acted as the Agency’s spokesperson from 1997 to 2023. Hoda worked at Agence France Presse Regional office in Nicosia Cyprus between 1993 and 1996 as editor on the Arabic desk. She is also a certified sworn translator since 1997 and a freelance interpreter in international conferences in Lebanon and the region. Hoda holds a Bachelor of Arts in languages and translation and a Master of Arts in simultaneous interpretation from Université Saint Joseph (Beirut) where she still teaches consecutive interpretation (Master’s level). She is a Lebanese national with dual French nationality. She is married with 5 children.
