Dr. Malek Nassar is an obstetrician-gynecologist who completed his medical studies and specialization in gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine of Saint Joseph University and Hôtel-Dieu de France in Beirut. Choosing fetal medicine as his subspecialty, he pursued a three-year training in the world-renowned department of Professor Yves Ville in France. Aiming to provide the best care for pregnant women and their unborn children, and to apply the latest recommendations in the field of fetal medicine, Dr. Nassar founded the Prenatal Diagnostic Clinic in Beirut in 2008. This clinic became the first specialized maternal-fetal medicine center in Lebanon, offering level 3 fetal ultrasound, invasive procedures (amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling), as well as non-invasive prenatal tests. He established and developed a professional and collaborative relationship with the majority of obstetricians working in various hospitals, not only in Beirut but also in other regions of Lebanon. In 2010, Dr. Nassar joined the Clemenceau Medical Center (CMC) in Beirut, where he developed a maternal and fetal medicine service, with the support of Dr. Toufic Eid, Head of the Department at CMC. In 2019, he joined Hôtel-Dieu de France Hospital with the goal of creating and developing a fetal medicine unit that offers advanced services such as fetal surgery and specialized fetal ultrasound. He is currently working on the development of fetoscopy for the treatment of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome and offering intrauterine fetal transfusion and other intrauterine interventions at Hôtel-Dieu de France. Throughout his career, Dr. Nassar has been actively involved in professional societies, serving as a board member of the Lebanese Society of Perinatology and the Lebanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (LSOG). He is also a member of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG). Teaching fetal medicine to the younger generation has always been a part of his work, whether through training interns and residents in fetal ultrasound at his clinic or as a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of Saint Joseph University. With numerous publications in the field, Dr. Nassar contributes to the advancement of fetal medicine and is committed to improving prenatal care while reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
