Patrick Soumrani was born on 19 August 1966. He completed his college studies at the Collège Notre-Dame de JamhouPatrick Soumrani was born on 19 August 1966. He completed his college studies at the Collège Notre-Dame de Jamhour in 1984 and obtained a Lebanese Baccalauréat in “Experimental Sciences”, following which he pursued law studies at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Saint Joseph University and graduated in 1988 with an LL.B in Private Law with honors. He obtained in 1990 a Master in Private Law from the same University, also with honors. Patrick pursued his studies at the Université Panthéon-Assas (Paris 2) and obtained an LL.D for a thesis titled “Le portage d’actions” that won the Albert Wahl Prize and the Prize of the Association of Corporate Legal Counsels of Paris and Île de France. This thesis has been published at the Librairie Générale de Droit et de Jurisprudence in France (“Le portage d’actions”, éd. L.G.D.J. 1996, préface B. Oppetit). Patrick has been practicing as a lawyer since 1988. He is currently Managing Partner at Soumrani & Partners, a law firm based in Beirut. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance law, corporate law, commercial law, aviation law, arbitration and real estate Law. He is also Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the Saint Joseph University, where he teaches corporate law and merger and acquisitions. Former member of the Ministry of Justice committee for the modernization of the Code of commerce and of the special committee of the Beirut Bar Association for the reform of the Code of commerce, he has published several studies in Lebanese and French specialized legal gazettes.
