Dr. Josee El Hayek is a clinical psychologist. She obtained her Doctorate in Psychology from Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, in 2024, her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium, in 2015. She is a licensed psychologist in both Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates and is recognized by the Commission of Psychologists in Belgium. Dr. El Hayek has been working in the field of mental health treatment and awareness for over eight years. She has practiced clinical psychology in various interdisciplinary settings, primarily at the Association of Justice and Mercy (NGO) in Lebanon, where she provided individual and group therapy to prisoners, victims of torture, substance users, and other vulnerable populations. Subsequently, she began coordinating the Harm Reduction Program within the Association as well as the Awareness and Prevention Program related to HIV, both in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon. In addition to her experience with adults, Dr. El Hayek has provided counseling to hard-of-hearing children and adolescents at the Father Andeweg Institution for the Deaf in Lebanon. She has also assisted the educational and specialized team at the Institution in implementing intervention and prevention strategies. Dr. El Hayek has been a faculty member at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon, since 2019. She is a trained therapist in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Her broad range of skills allows her to work with adults facing various mental health challenges such as anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and grief, insomnia and other sleep disorders, interpersonal problems, and psychosocial difficulties. She adopts an eclectic approach to tailor the most effective methods to address each individual’s needs. In addition to the therapeutic treatments provided at the American Center for Psychiatry and Neurology in Dubai since 2021, Dr. El Hayek conducts psychometric assessments across different areas such as cognitive abilities, academic skills, attention, personality, and adaptive functioning. Dr. El Hayek's commitment to mental health and well-being is also showcased by her involvement in workshops, awareness sessions, and critical incident responses during challenging times.
