Education is a cornerstone of society, shaping individuals who are responsible and future-oriented. For this reason, it has always been at the core of the Tamari Foundation’s mission. However, education alone is often insufficient. In Lebanon, where individuals must often take on the role of the absent State, civic engagement is just as essential if we aim to defend the common good and foster better governance at all levels of society. To achieve this, we must encourage dialogue and raise awareness of civic values among young people by creating spaces for exchanging ideas, rather than focusing on identities. Saint Joseph University of Beirut, whose values of tolerance and commitment align closely with those of the Foundation, was the perfect partner for the creation of the University Diploma in Civic Engagement and Citizen Initiative, developed in collaboration with the Tamari Foundation, ALAM, and Fondation Diane. At the Tamari Foundation, we are proud to support students of this program through scholarships, just as we have supported young people in other fields of study both in Lebanon and abroad for many years. Watching the next generation grow intellectually and personally is incredibly rewarding. Beyond financial contributions, our goal is to provide opportunities that can truly change lives. Supporting education is ultimately a long-term commitment. Students are agents of change who will build the society of tomorrow. This is why the Tamari Foundation strongly believes in a holistic approach to education – one that integrates human values such as respect and selflessness, alongside traditional academic success criteria. We consider our mission a success when we see students we have supported giving back by helping others, whether through their time, expertise, or even financial contributions, creating a virtuous cycle of limitless mutual aid.
