Message from the USJ Rector

Dear Students,
As we begin this academic year, I am delighted to welcome you to Saint Joseph University Dubai. By joining your faculty, institute, or school, you also become members of one community: USJ. May this sense of belonging be a source of pride for each one of you, as well as a call to commitment, solidarity, and
responsibility.
Belonging to USJ means more than pursuing your studies at an institution renowned for excellence; it also means carrying forward a legacy and values that transcend the boundaries of every discipline, including dialogue, respect for diversity, and care for every
person. Throughout your journey, you will be called not only to acquire knowledge and skills, but also to become free and responsible women and men, capable of working together to shape the future.
I encourage you to make the most of your time on our campuses: beyond your studies, take part in the student, cultural, sports, and civic activities available to you. Each offers an opportunity to discover others, develop your talents, build connections, and contribute to a rich and open university life.
Finally, I invite you to engage in USJ’s third mission: service to society. Through the University’s many initiatives, place your skills, energy, and generosity at the service of others and the common good.
I wish you all a fruitful year, filled with achievement, meaningful encounters, and engagement.
Welcome to the new academic year at USJ!
Prof. François Boëdec, SJ
