Born in 1935 in Beit Mery, Prof. Falah Bechara Maroun (FM, 1960), an internationally renowned Lebanese neurosurgeon, passed away last December, leaving a remarkable legacy in medicine, academia, and human service.
A graduate of the USJ Faculty of Medicine in 1960, he pursued his specialization at the Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital. In 1967, a temporary assignment took him to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, a move that would shape the rest of his career. He went on to build a lasting professional life there, becoming one of the most influential figures in the region’s medical community.
