In October 2002, Professor Sélim Abou, S.J., on behalf of Saint-Joseph University, was awarded the “Grand Prix culturel et scientifique” by the Louis D. Foundation under the aegis of the Institut de France. This prize would allow the creation of a Chair of Intercultural Anthropology within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
The Chair aims to develop research on the intertwining of cultures in the world, the phenomena of acculturation, and conflicts of identity, multiculturalism and citizenship.
