Chair Pierre Gannagé on Pluralism

The “Chair Pierre Gannagé on Pluralism” is dedicated to advancing studies, research, symposia, and conferences inspired by the work of Pierre Gannagé. Its primary focus includes exploring pluralistic societies, legislative and judicial pluralism, and the interplay between confessional and secular legal systems in both domestic and international contexts.
A particular emphasis will be placed on the Lebanese legal system, addressing themes central to Gannagé’s work: advocating for State secularism while recognizing communal representation, upholding freedom of conscience, secularizing personal status laws, examining the relationship between the State and communities, resolving conflicts of laws, exploring intercommunal law and private international law, and analyzing the unique dynamics of multicultural societies, among other topics.
