The SIO in Ivory Coast: When Orientation Becomes a Bridge Between Generations and BordersFrom May 11 to 14, the Student Information and Orientation Office of Saint Joseph University of Beirut carried out a mission in Ivory Coast, driven by a deep conviction: university orientation is not limited to choosing a field of study or a career, but it is, above all, about accompanying young people in building their future while preserving their identity, their roots, and their sense of belonging. Through this visit to Abidjan, the goal was twofold: to offer students and their families clear, personalized information on university pathways, and to strengthen the living bond between Lebanese diaspora and their homeland. In a world where geographical distances can sometimes separate generations from their origins, this encounter served as a reminder that education can become a true cultural and human bridge. The exchanges with students revealed rich and diverse aspirations: some dream of medicine, engineering, law, or communications; others are looking above all for a university environment capable of offering them a solid education, human values, and international openness. Through presentations and meetings organized by the SIO and the USJ-CI team, students were able to ask their questions, express their concerns, and discover future prospects suited to their ambitions. School principals, USJ alumni and friends, had the opportunity to meet the Rector of Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Prof. François Boëdec SJ, during a friendly gathering organized on the premises of USJ-CI. For many young Lebanese living abroad, pursuing studies in Lebanon can become an experience that deepens their attachment to their family history, their language, and their culture. The Student Information and Orientation Office deeply thanks USJ Vice President for International Relations, the USJ-CI team, the partner schools, the students and their families for their warm welcome and trust. Every exchange emphasized the importance of going out to meet young people wherever they live, in order to guide them in their choices and remind them that they remain deeply connected to their country of origin.
