You don’t have to sit in front of an old-fashioned typewriter – or a laptop – gazing broodingly into the void while trying to fathom jumbled thoughts into words on paper, to be a writer. You don’t have to idolize Bukowski, or Nabokov, or Kerouac or any other writer, to be a writer. You simply need to be primed with a pencil, a paper, and a passion for writing.
In my opinion, writing shouldn’t be burdening. It shouldn’t be a task. To me, words flow out of me with ease, and thoughts fall into place just like puzzle pieces. Above all, it’s a thrill. I seek the euphoria that spreads in my chest after finishing a piece. I believe all those who love writing have chosen to pursue studies as a “Traducteur-Rédacteur”. This is what unites all four of those students, myself included.
In our French writing class, we were lucky enough to have a professor who encouraged us to write, challenge, and express ourselves. She provided us with a platform to compile our writings and form an e-magazine. The entire process was tiring, frustrating, but fulfilling. When we, as students, couldn’t see eye to eye, our professor stepped in to help and guide us.
The magazine compiles anecdotes, reviews, short stories, short poems, amongst other things. All of our hard work during the semester paid off, and the fruits of our labor is finally published. Here is the link:
