Holder of a doctoral scholarship from the CEEDD Chair since 2016, Miss Christelle Kassargy, enrolled in the Doctoral School of Man and Society (EDSHS), successfully completes her third and last year of thesis in the fields of local governance, eco-citizenship and sustainable development. The aim of this thesis project is to develop a conceptual model for Lebanese municipalities to assess the quality of their local governance in terms of sustainable development.

During her third year of thesis, Ms Kassargy completed the field study through the application of her evaluation model at the level of 3 municipalities: Zahle-Moalaka-Taanayel, Anjar and Taalabaya. The originality of this model is based on taking into account the Sustainable Development Goals (Sdgs) and the principles of good municipal governance. The evaluation consists of an approach combining an internal diagnosis of the municipalities, an external diagnosis of the actors of the territory and an analysis of the perception of the citizens. The fieldwork, the implementation of the model and the results obtained led to the writing of two articles submitted to two international newspapers.

Titulaire d’une bourse de doctorat de la Chaire CEEDD depuis 2016, Mlle Christelle Kassargy, inscrite à l’École Doctorale de l’Homme et de la Société (EDSHS), achève avec succès sa troisième et dernière année de thèse dans les domaines de la gouvernance locale, de l’éco-citoyenneté et du développement durable. Le but de ce projet de thèse est d’élaborer un modèle conceptuel adressé aux municipalités libanaises, afin d’évaluer la qualité de leur gouvernance locale, en termes de développement durable.

Au cours de sa troisième année de thèse, Mlle Kassargy a accompli l’étude de terrain à travers l’application de son modèle d’évaluation au niveau de 3 municipalités : Zahle-Moalaka-Taanayel, Anjar et Taalabaya. L’originalité de ce modèle repose sur la prise en compte des Objectifs de Développement Durable (ODD) et des principes de la bonne gouvernance municipale. L’évaluation consiste en une démarche combinant un diagnostic interne des municipalités, un diagnostic externe des acteurs du territoire et une analyse de la perception des citoyens. Le travail de terrain, la mise en place du modèle ainsi que les résultats obtenus, ont débouché sur la rédaction de deux articles soumis à deux journaux internationaux.
