Conference on Climate and Citizen Engagement in Lebanon

As part of the COP21 (climate conference held in Paris in December 2015), France Volontaires Liban in collaboration with the Embassy of France in Lebanon, organized, on November 12, 2015, a conference at the French Institute of Beirut on voluntary engagement, both national and international. This commitment is a citizen mobilization tool to actively fight global warming. A consortium of Lebanese actors engaged in environmental preservation was invited to produce a long-term reflection on the relationship between civil society in Lebanon and climate issues.


This conference - which brought together some 70 Lebanese and French participants - was an opportunity for the Chair, through the voice of its scientific and administrative officer, to recall the importance of establishing collaborations between the various actors involved in environmental protection, in particular the interest of "Diane Foundation" and the Chair to establish links with the initiatives of volunteers and Ngos in Lebanon. The CSEC thus presents itself as a place for the exchange of knowledge and support for good practices for environmental protection.

Conférence sur le climat et l’engagement citoyen au Liban 

Dans le cadre de la COP 21 (conférence sur le climat tenue à Paris, en décembre 2015), France Volontaires Liban en collaboration avec l’Ambassade de France au Liban, a organisé, le 12 novembre 2015, une conférence à l’Institut Français de Beyrouth sur l’engagement volontaire, à la fois national et international. Cet engagement est un outil de mobilisation citoyenne pour lutter activement contre le réchauffement climatique. Un consortium d’acteurs libanais engagés dans la préservation de l’environnement a ainsi été convié à produire une réflexion sur le long terme concernant le rapport entre société civile au Liban et enjeux climatiques.

Cette conférence - qui a rassemblé quelques 70 participants libanais et français - a été l’occasion pour la chaire, à travers la voix de sa responsable scientifique et administrative, de rappeler l’importance de la mise en place de collaborations entre les différents acteurs liés à la protection de l’environnement, en particulier l’intérêt de « fondation diane » et de la chaire à établir des liens avec les initiatives des volontaires et des ONG au Liban. La CEECDD se présente ainsi comme un lieu d’échange de savoirs et de soutien aux bonnes pratiques pour la protection de l’environnement.
