The Delegation of the European Union in Lebanon and its partner the Samir Kassir Foundation have the pleasure to invite you to a special event to meet the finalists who are candidates for the 2019 Samir Kassir Award for Freedom of the Press, awarded by the European Union since 2006.
Date: Thursday 30 May 2019, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm
Venue: Sursock Museum, Ashrafieh – Beirut.
This is an opportunity for the students to discuss with the finalists their experience as journalism and media professionals in their respective countries and discover the articles and reports that qualified them for this year’s Award.
International experts from the International Criminal Court, Human Rights Watch, and Bellingcat will also outline the international mechanisms to end impunity for crimes against journalists and the most advanced techniques in fact-checking.

To prepare students for the event above, the Samir Kassir Foundation will be hosting an information session on Tuesday 28 May 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Warwick Palm Beach Hotel, Ain el-Mraisseh.
Those who attend the special meeting will also be invited to the Samir Kassir Award Ceremony on Thursday 30 May at 7:00 pm, one of the most prestigious award ceremonies for journalism in the Arab world.
