Over the years, CINIA has achieved remarkable milestones, including being an early adopter of Moodle in 2005. This marked a pivotal step in enriching courses with digital resources and fostering the widespread use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support teaching and learning. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we further demonstrated our commitment to innovation by rapidly launching interactive educational platforms, together with the research and integration of cutting-edge AI tools, to transform how knowledge is imparted and absorbed.

As we celebrate our 18^th anniversary, we remain focused on embracing emerging trends and technologies to further enhance our educational offerings. Our current and future projects are designed to address the evolving needs of our community. We are excited about exploring new frontiers and expanding our use of artificial intelligence to create personalized learning experiences and fostering collaborations to share and implement best practices in digital education.

Impactful Success Stories

Our path in digital technology is rooted in nearly two decades of innovation, beginning in 2005 with the establishment of the New Educational Technologies Unit. Early achievements included pioneering educational digital projects, introducing online exams, and promoting the Green University initiative, which encouraged the widespread adoption of Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle to enrich courses and optimize academic processes.

As our expertise grew, so did our impact. In response to evolving needs, we developed practices that integrated digital tools into teaching and learning, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated these efforts, prompting us to transition swiftly from physical to online learning by leveraging faculty and student feedback. This led to the creation of the Online Teaching Development Commission and a comprehensive distance education framework.

We also established a Network of Digital Coordinators to enhance digital literacy and empower educators through tailored support, including training workshops, guides, and checklists. Meanwhile, the Committee for Digital and Artificial Intelligence Strategic Orientation has ensured the responsible adoption of emerging technologies. A noteworthy milestone in June 2023 involved raising instructors’ awareness of ethical AI utilization, highlighting our steadfast commitment to responsibly integrating technology into education.

Today, as the Center for Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (CINIA), we have evolved from a small unit into a leading hub of innovation.
