Together, let us resume…

To our faculty, staff, and students,

Over the past five years, the Lebanese people have faced successive crises, one after another. The atrocities and these catastrophes are forever etched in our individual and collective memory, but with each fall, we have managed to show resilience and ingenuity in the face of the crisis. We can only have a devout thought for the victims of this war and a sense of solidarity with the endless line of refugees marching with dignity. Several initiatives (Opération 7ème Jour, Chaplaincy, Al Mazeed, SVE, etc.) have already been launched to help.

In the face of the violence invading our daily lives, let us adhere to the conviction of the great educator Paolo Freire, "Where there is life, there is incompleteness". The commemoration of the 150th anniversary of our University calls us "to make a profession of faith," in the words of our alumnus, Albert Kostanian, to continue our mission, even if the future seems bleak. Let us continue through education, and without becoming discouraged, to nurture this incompleteness of history.

That is why our University will resume all its academic and administrative activities starting Monday, October 7, 2024. Classes will be held in person for those who can attend and/or online. Each institution – faculty, institute, and school – will make its own decisions based on their situation. We cannot forget those who cannot come; therefore, all classes will be accessible remotely for those who reside in affected areas and are unable to attend in person.

Faculty members will upload their courses on Moodle and/or Teams. The modalities of distance, hybrid, synchronous, and asynchronous learning, as well as all information related to final exams, will be communicated to students by their respective institutions. Given the evolving situation, we will study the situation at the end of each week or whenever necessary.

Students are encouraged to contact their institution for any specific questions or difficulties they might have in finding appropriate solutions.

May God bless you all and protect our beloved Lebanon.

Rector
