From Campus to Center Stage: USJ Students’ Participation in the National English-Speaking Competition

Saturday, April 6, 2024

After a hiatus of 5 years, the National Public Speaking Competition ESU, Lebanon Chapter was held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at LAU, Beirut.

Two candidates, Perla El Rezzi and Maribelle Nassif, from the USJ Faculty of Medicine took part in the competition. Both candidates developed a 5-minute speech, delivered extemporaneously, on the theme assigned by ESU London, Dartmouth House: “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”

Both candidates showed great talent and dedication to preparing their speeches, infusing them with extensive research while considering elements of good public speaking skills. The experience highlighted the extra effort put forth by the two students, who were already excelling in their English courses, and revealed the encouragement of talent by their instructor. Both candidates enjoyed engaging in such a unique experience and were thrilled to be part of a community of young and motivated learners like themselves.
