During Holy Week, the 24 Hours of Solidarity initiative at the USJ brings together students driven by a common purpose: to assist those in need within their university community. Held from Wednesday, March 27, to Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the USJ Humanities Campus (CSH), this event seamlessly integrates sharing, prayer, and practical efforts to support the most vulnerable.
Its overarching goal is to forge stronger bonds across generations, uniting USJ students and retirees in a collective endeavor. Together, they engage in making and distributing maamouls to disadvantaged families. This undertaking carries particular significance amidst Lebanon's ongoing economic turmoil, where the steep rise in prices renders such treats out of reach for many households.
Following the preparation of maamouls, students ventured into the streets of Bourj Hammoud, delivering boxes of the freshly made sweets to families in need. These visits not only provided tangible assistance but also offered moments of solace and human connection.
Throughout the 24-hour period, participants embarked on a profound spiritual journey. They shared in prayer sessions, engaged in meaningful discussions, and enjoyed a recital of Easter chants performed by the USJ Campus Ministry Choir.
