The CMA CGM Group, a global player in maritime, land, air, and logistics solutions, stands as one of Lebanon’s prominent employers. In 2021, it established the “CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon”, with the overarching goal of promoting and bolstering the educational achievements of Lebanese students. This was achieved by offering scholarships to distinguished French universities. Now, the Group is expanding its dedication to the Lebanese youth, by introducing solidarity scholarships tailored specifically for students at École polytechnique.

The partnership between CMA CGM Group and the Fondation de l’École polytechnique marks the most extensive international support program ever devised for prospective École polytechnique students from Lebanon. Over the course of a decade-long collaboration, this initiative aims to support 10 Lebanese students each year through programs of international repute. Scholarships will be awarded based on diverse criteria, including academic excellence and the unique socio-economic circumstances of applicants. These scholarships will encompass a portion of the tuition fees and living expenses, thereby assisting students in their pursuit of education at École polytechnique, be it within the Bachelor of Science, the Polytechnique Engineer Cycle, or the Masters of Science and Technology.

The primary goal of this program is to educate future Lebanese leaders who, upon completing their studies in France, can return to Lebanon armed with international expertise to contribute to the nation’s advancement. École polytechnique joins other esteemed institutions in the “CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon,” including HEC Paris, the American University of Beirut (AUB), Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), and ESA Business School. This fund will benefit over 125 Lebanese students annually, enabling them to pursue studies at prestigious universities in both France and Lebanon.

Rodolphe Saadé, CMA CGM Group Chairman and CEO, underscored the program’s significance, stating: “This fund of excellence will empower more than 125 students each year across all partner universities. Recipients will gain access to prestigious institutions and invaluable international exposure.”

As for École polytechnique, its core mission has consistently revolved around uncovering the talents of tomorrow, regardless of their social or geographic origins. It has been a consistent supporter of its Lebanese students and has nurtured strong connections with the Franco-Lebanese community for numerous years. In a context where pursuing higher education abroad can be challenging, this program holds immense importance for the Lebanese students of École polytechnique. Laura Chaubard, Director General of École polytechnique, remarked: “In these exceedingly tough times for the Lebanese population, we are thrilled to be able to support this new generation of engineers.”

Frédéric Oudéa, Chairman of the Fondation de l’École polytechnique, lauded CMA CGM’s dedication to Lebanese youth and emphasized the pivotal role of patrons in nurturing young talent at École polytechnique.

In collaboration with École polytechnique and its Foundation, the CMA CGM Group has introduced a solidarity scholarship program, aimed at aiding Lebanese students in their pursuit of academic excellence. This decade-long partnership strives to assist ten Lebanese students annually in their educational journey at École polytechnique in France, thereby contributing to the training of future Lebanese leaders who can play a pivotal role in their country’s development. This program fortifies the bonds between France and Lebanon, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the cause of youth and education.
