The Cénacle de La Lumière, known as CDLL, has launched the first online Mental Health platform dedicated to teachers. Developed in partnership with Hôtel-Dieu de France (HDF), Department of Psychiatry, and under the supervision of Prof. Sami Richa, Professor of Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine of Saint Joseph University and Head of the Department at Hôtel-Dieu de France, this platform aims to create a mentally healthy environment in schools.
The project also involves collaboration with the Association Francophone pour les Malades Mentaux (AFMM) and Prof. Patricia Rached, the Dean of the Faculty of Education (FSEDU) at USJ. The tutorial provided through the platform is designed to guide teachers in nurturing mentally healthy school environments.
Research indicates that non-mental health specialists, including community volunteers, nurses, social workers, and teachers, can deliver quality care if properly guided. The primary objective of this tutorial is to raise awareness among teachers and support staff, enabling them to recognize early warning signs of mental distress and disorders in children and youth and refer them to professionals when necessary. Schools provide an ideal setting for promoting mental health and well-being in students.
