A research conducted by our doctoral candidates, Dr. Luna El Bizri, Dr. Bassima Hazimeh, Mrs. Joumana Merhi, and Mrs. Maha Sabagh was presented last week during the 80th FIP world congress of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences in Seville, Spain.
The presented poster entitled: "Generic adoption in Lebanon: a response to the Lebanese economic, social, and political crisis" will be published in The Pharmacy Education Journal. The pharmaceutical market in Lebanon is facing many challenges, including high out-of-pocket expenditure and major budget constraints. One challenge goes to the low adoption of generics in the market and the contribution of local manufacturers with good GMP certification is still very small. The government has conducted some initiatives to push toward generic adoption, notably local ones, yet the success remains very low.
