“Elon Musk”, you probably heard this name before! On the seventh of January 2021, all media across the world were filled with one topic: “Elon Musk is the richest man on the planet with 188 billion dollars!”

Elon Musk has become the wealthiest person on the planet, surpassing Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, thanks to the continued rise in Tesla’s stock price. Musk is now worth around $188 billion, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.

“How strange,” Musk tweeted Thursday. “Well, back to work ...”

The bulk of this wealth is made up of shares of Tesla, which has achieved a huge success on the stock exchange over the past year - in twelve months, the value of its assets increased by as much as 743%. That's what allowed Musk to advance so quickly in the ranking.

The best illustration of the dynamics of the situation is the fact that, at the beginning of last year, Tesla's CEO barely appeared on the list with assets valued at 27 billion dollars. This means that in the last 12 months alone, Musk has earned much more than Bill Gates (the latter's wealth is estimated at 134 billion dollars), who is third.

Tesla stocks went from a high of 105 USD on the 13th of January 2020 up to a high of 884.49 USD on the 8th of January 2021 according to Yahoo’s analytics!

Elon Musk had many problems with some of the richest people on this planet. First, there’s the beef between Musk and Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg! This started over privacy issues on Facebook, where Elon Musk expressed that he doesn’t use Facebook, nor Instagram nor WhatsApp! Speaking of WhatsApp, the latest beta update forces users to agree to new privacy rules or else lose access to the app, according to early testers of the popular messaging platform. Elon’s answer to this was a tweet that said: “Signal”, in which he was referring to the Signal messaging app, which is a secure app based on donations. Second, was the beef with Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon. Well, gonna say we should respect him, he tried! He made a space agency called “Blue Origin” to compete with Space X but, in the end, Space X won! Musk called Bezos a copycat over some of Amazon's business ventures, said Amazon is a monopoly that should be broken up, and appeared to make digs about Bezos' age. For his part, Bezos has made veiled critiques of Musk's main goal, which is to send humans to Mars.

Elon Musk is trying to improve humanity not only by electric cars, “Tesla”, but also with his goal to reach Mars by 2030 and have one million people with a new civilization on this planet! Will other billionaires follow him like Jeff Bezos tried?
