Facilitating Pre-Arrival: Passport and Visa Management / Regulating Migration: Border Management

This course will teach how to facilitate the arrival of migrant and identify false documents by providing a better understanding of the design and security features of identity and breeder documents and how to combat forgery, counterfeiting and misuse of documents related to serious crime. This course will focus on how effective border management can help States meet their responsibilities to admit those whose arrival is in accordance with the law, safeguard national security, while protecting the rights of migrants while reducing their potential vulnerabilities. How can we achieve good border management? What are the key policy considerations? What is an integrated border management system and what makes it effective?
