This course examines the global, historic and contemporary context of migration and elaborates the contextual development of national, regional and international legislations and frameworks and human rights’ conventions and their application across borders today. It will also define types of migration as well as national laws governing migrant integration and management. This course focuses on international migration law from different perspectives. It presents the key aspects of the migration phenomenon from different angles, including the obligations and concerns of States and the rights and responsibilities of migrants, includes an analysis of the international legal instruments that relate to migration, to the legal framework concerning other categories of persons in need of international protection, such as refugees and victims of trafficking.
