Urban environmental and climate change economics

This course will provide an understanding of Environmental Economics focusing on the urban environment. It will help students develop the tools to estimate the costs and benefits of environmental regulations, address the question of natural resources, renewable and non-renewable, and introduce the concepts of urban metabolism and circular economy. The second part of the course will focus on climate change, making use of the concepts and tools addressed during the first sessions. Climate science, governance and economics will be tackled, and an in-class simulation of carbon trading market will be organized.
