Capital Markets

This course gives a thorough understanding of the main aspects of capital markets laws in the UAE and internationally. In particular, students will learn how the financial markets work, the framework of securities regulation, the role of stock markets, governmental regulators, financial institutions and other financial intermediaries, the mechanism of securitization, the process of clearing and settlement of securities transactions, the function of market indexes, as well as the importance of information in the context of capital markets. The course will address the practicalities of both equity and debt securities offerings, from the issuance of shares or bonds in primary markets, to secondary markets’ trading and investments, as well as other financially innovative transactions involving the use of derivatives in international capital markets.
