Muhsin Elie Rahhal has been a professor and researcher in geotechnics at the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut in Lebanon since 1998. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Sherbrooke in Canada, obtained in 1996 in the field of soil rheology under static and seismic loading. He is a Civil Engineer, member of the Order of Engineers of Beirut, member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec. He teaches soil mechanics, foundations engineering, landslides, environmental geotechnics and seismic geotechnics. He is also an invited associate professor at Laval University in Quebec, Canada. He conducts research in seismic geotechnics and petroleum geology. His areas of expertise are

Landslides, soil liquefaction under seismic loading, the behavior of earth structures under earthquakes, shoring problems for urban excavations, soil contamination problems.
